Reuben Owens, Kenmore Junior/Senior High School Counselor

Reuben started on the ground floor of our Crossroads Academy three years ago with the official title of School Counselor, but he certainly fulfills many more roles for our program. He is a never-ending source of positivity and laughter – it’s almost impossible to be in a bad mood around him. Reuben always goes the extra mile for kids in any way he can, but at the same time, he is not afraid to have hard conversations with students and families to help them be as successful as possible in school. Reuben took on a leadership role as Co-Department Chair last year, and also has many community connections that students have benefitted from. He was instrumental in last year’s successful Crossroads Luncheon with the help of his contacts at Community Services for Every 1. Reuben also was able to have students attend a leadership conference in downtown Buffalo and organized several visits to college campuses like Buffalo State and SUNY Erie as well as trade schools like Northland Workforce Training Center. Many thanks to Reuben who is certainly the heart of Crossroads and is a big reason for our team’s success.
